May 22, 2023All members are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting of the RSCDS Twin Cities Branch. As required by our bylaws, this meeting is held annually to conduct official business including electing new board members, but also as a way to review the past year and to recognize and thank those who have made it all happen. Bring treats if you wanna eat!

June 5, 2023Come and enjoy an evening of social dancing. The program just happens to be our new performance repertoire. You don't need to be planning to perform with the branch to come, but this is a great opportunity to get a sneak peek at the dances we'll be rehearsing starting in July.
Note that dances will be in a different order than they appear in the repertoire and will be danced as originally written (not with special performance endings).

Midwest Scottish Weekend Midwest Scottish Weekend

June 9, 2023The Midwest Scottish Weekend will be held for the second time on the lovely Ripon College campus in Ripon, Wisconsin. The dates are June 9-11, 2023, mark your calendars!
Canadians Laura Risk and Nicholas Williams will be joined by Ralph Gordon for a lively music trio of fiddle, keyboard, and bass. Acclaimed teachers Marjorie McLaughlin and Geoffrey Selling will keep our feet closing in third as we enjoy every minute of learning and improving our dancing! The welcome dance on Friday evening and the Centennial Ball on Saturday, followed by an informal get together on Friday and a ceilidh on Saturday, will end each day with time for hors d'oeuvres and socializing.
Old and new friends, wonderful talented teachers and musicians, a beautiful ballroom, fellowship and food will make for another unforgettable weekend. We know you will want to be there; how could it not be a very good time?

June 26, 2023Social dancing should certainly include some chit chat, but shouting directions during the dance is rarely as effective as people think it will be and makes it harder to hear the music and compliments from your partner. Janet will teach a class focused on strategies for giving help without words -- a great skill to practice as we get ready to start performance rep rehearsals. The dances will be fairly easy and accessible to all.
