    Meet an Old Friend Night

    Meet an Old Friend Night

    September 14, 2020

Normally we'd be kicking off our fall season with an open house-style sampler class and live music.  Things being how they are, we can't meet on the dance floor, but we will still have a special event to mark the beginning of our new membership year.  We will be welcoming special guests Joy Gullikson, Gary Thomas, and Ron Wallace, who will share some stories and reminiscences about the early days of the RSCDS Twin Cities Branch and Scottish dancing in the Twin Cities.  Following the chat with Gary, Joy, and Ron, we are all invited to join Gary's online SCD class.

Please note that this event will start at 7:30pm to accommodate the time difference (Ron and Gary live in California).  Check your email for Zoom link details.

    Online Pub Night

    Online Pub Night

    September 29, 2020

Please BYOB and BYO bar snacks :-).  We will start off with a question of the week to get the conversation going and make sure everyone has a chance to contribute.  This week's question will be:  What inspired you to start SCD and what got you hooked?  Depending on the number of people who come, we'll also split up into some breakout rooms for part of the time so that people can talk in smaller groups.

    Cape Breton Reel Step Basics

    Cape Breton Reel Step Basics

    October 6, 2020

Cape Breton step dancing is a traditional percussive form of Scottish step dancing as preserved by Scottish immigrants to Canada.  In this class, Lara will introduce the basic reel-time step with a few simple variations.  If possible, hard-soled shoes or anything that will make a little noise on the floor, but you can learn even with sneakers.
