How is quorum calculated for a board meeting?

Board meetings require two-thirds of the Executive Board (Article 8.6). The Executive Board consists of the board members elected by membership at the AGM and the Teacher’s Representative (Article 4.1). Volunteer and appointed officials are considered non-voting members of the board. (Article 4.1) The minimum size of the executive board is set at seven (Article 4.2, Article 5.1)

How is quorum calculated for the AGM?

The Annual General Meeting requires twenty percent of members to be present for the transaction of business. (Article 8.6)

What are the term limits of board members?

No person shall serve in a specific elected position for more than six consecutive years. (Article 5.7)

Who needs to be on the nominating committee?

The nominating committee consists of a Teacher, chosen by the Teacher’s committee; a member of the executive board who is not the current Chair; and a volunteer from the membership at large. (Article 9.2)

What are the AGM notification requirements?

The general membership must be given at least two weeks notice via electronic or written correspondence that includes the location, time, and agenda of the meeting. (Article 8.2)

How can members vote by proxy at General Meetings?

Members can submit a proxy voting document in writing, signed and dated, noting the specific meeting for which the proxy vote is valid. Proxy forms must be submitted to the board secretary before the scheduled time of the meeting. (Article 8.4)
