1 April 2017 Music Workshop
San Francisco Bay-area based fiddler Susan Worland Bentley and pianist Lyle Ramshaw will share what it's like to play for Scottish Country Dancing and the key distinctions between playing reels, jigs and strathspeys. Come and learn a few tunes and performing techniques unique to Scottish fiddle and keyboard playing. The workshop will be held in the Becketwood Chapel basement, 4300 W. 1 April 2017 Scottish Ramble Performance
The RSCDS Twin Cities will perform again at this year's Scottish Ramble, an annual indoor Scottish Festival (now part of the annual Tartan Week festivities) held at Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul and featuring music, dance, vendors, and demonstrations. 1 April 2017 Annual Grand Ball
Registration will open soon for our 41st annual grand ball, celebrating the "auld alliance" between France and Scotland, and featuring music by the northern California-based duo Susan Worland Bentley (fiddle) and Lyle Ramshaw (piano). There will also be a music workshop on Saturday morning. We are excited to be hosting this year's ball at the beautiful Columbia Manor in northeast Minneapolis. »More information
8 May 2017 End of the Year Ice Cream Social
Celebrate the end of another season of dancing with an informal social dance and ice cream! Please bring some to share (or a topping). Cold storage will be available. 7:30pm at Tapestry Folkdance Center with your MC, Chandi McCracken.

15 May 2017 Annual General Meeting
All RSCDS Twin Cities Branch members are strongly encouraged to attend our annual business meeting at 7:30pm Tapestry Folkdance Center. Please read minutes and reports ahead of time if possible and arrive early, as you will need to sign in on our AGM membership roster. More info TBA.
22 May 2017 Performance Repertoire Preview
Here's a chance to get a preview of the new performance repertoire dances. We'll run the evening like a social dance, so feel free to join us even if you are not planning on performing with the Branch this year. 7:30pm Tapestry Folkdance Center..

28-30 April 2017 Central Iowa Spring Ball Weekend
The RSCDS Central Iowa Branch will host Annual Ball at the Iowa State University Memorial Union in Ames, IA on April 29th, featuring music by Terpsichore (fiddler Elke Baker, pianist Liz Donaldson, and cellist/bassist Ralph Gordon). The weekend also includes a Friday Night Concert and a brunch on Sunday.
9-11 June 2017 Midwest Scottish Weekend
The Midwest Scottish Weekend is an annual workshop and ball weekend held a new (closer!) location at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, WI. This year's event will feature guest instructor Stella Fogg (from Richmond, VA) and our own Chandi McCracken, plus live music by Terpsichore (fiddler Elke Baker and pianist Liz Donaldson). The weekend includes a welcome dance on Friday night, a formal ball on Saturday night, and classes on Saturday and Sunday. Scholarship assistance is available.
